The Artericambi gallery is pleased to announce, on Saturday 17 November 2007, the Andrea Galvani’s exhibition “N-1”.

“The image is a breath, a breath, but dying, on the verge of extinction. The image is what is extinguished, consumed, it is a fall. It is a pure intensity that is defined as such by its height, that is, by its level above zero, which it describes only by falling.” Gilles Deleuze (L’exhausted, 2nd edition June 2005, Cronopio Editore, Naples.)

In project N-1, the second appointment of the “Intelligence of evil” trilogy, Andrea Galvani seems to proceed by subtraction, orchestrating a slow process of disappearance of the subject. Creatures that become penultimate, absorbed by fog or darkness, like Beckett’s damned, stand out in anticipation of the end. But it is an open process, a mathematical function whose equilateral hyperbola plummets without touching zero. It is a pure intensity aimed at exhaustion that is divided by changing nature each time.

In the video installation, “La triade di Bichat II”, developed with the technical collaboration of Paolo Berto Durante, a family of objects projected on the wall in real size, undergoes, in different ways and times, a sudden process of disintegration, sublimating and dispersing in space. In the photographic images the landscape is nourished by the gradient through which it dissolves. A group of rabbits freed in the center of a glacier at 3400 m altitude, collaborate in the staging of a pack. Like a dissolving cloud, light feed-back on the dilated pupils of animals surprised in the night, the limit is not infinite in terms but is found everywhere, it bounces between them until they are constituted.

For several years he has been working on a conceptual reflection on the status of images. His research favors the photographic medium, but he often also makes use of other languages, especially video, drawing and wall painting. His work has become part of important collections.
