With Non ricordo il titolo, the Artericambi gallery presents Christelle Lheureux’s first solo show in Italy. Fascinated by the filmic image and its spectral, imaginative value, in her videos the French artist offers the viewer the experience of a dissociation between image and its content, between visual perception and imagination, illustrating the omnipresent visualizations in visual linguistic codes, in contemporary discourses and interpersonal communication.

Christelle Lheureux loves to play with the language of the image, with the history of cinema, with dialogues and with their symbolic value to awaken the oddities hidden under the surface of the representations. In Non ricordo il titolothe title Christelle Lheureux previews a video work in black and white with the same title (co-produced by Artericambi) in which she imagines the story of an impossible cinema. Inspired by the cinematographic masterpieces of the 1950s and 1960s, in particular Italian Neorealism and the French Nouvelle Vague, the artist creates an imaginary, all mental narration – deconstructed in images and dialogues – a filmic collage without a story where flash-backs emerge of cinematic pieces.

As after a night spent watching auteur films, the mental residue of those visions – together with nocturnal dreams and individual memories – collide in a “space open to the viewer’s imagination” and to every possible narrative ghost. Bergman, who of the world as ghosts without identity in a work of reflection on the filmic image and its simulacrum value. A series of photographic diptychs and some black and white photographs present the two protagonists of the video in the lunar and cathartic landscape of the island of Stromboli, where the video was shot.
