“Once pierced through the sky and reached the last layer of the ionosphere, any light source that is set in a direction is able to travel forever to the most remote depths of space.”

With this declaration opens Higgs Ocean by Andrea Galvani, a project presented in 2011 at the Moscow Biennale and at numerous international exhibitions, which is today exhibited for the first time in this capacity, in an Italian institutional space. The exhibition curated by Marinella Paderni is part of the series of solo exhibitions hosted by Fotografia Europea in the splendid setting of the Cloisters of San Pietro. For the 2013 edition, which will take place between May and June, with three inaugural days from 3 to 5 May, the chosen theme is Change. Photography and responsibility. As this is an all-out reflection on the contemporary image, not only photographers but also intellectuals, artists, philosophers and writers discuss the issue. The starting point is the teaching of Luigi Ghirri: the possibility, through the image, of looking at the world as it has never been done before..
